    'Pond’s Extract' is created by its namesake Theron Tilden Pond, also known as 'Pond’s Golden Treasure,' it is one of the first skin creams to use the soothing and reparative benefits of hazel extract. The first Pond’s shop opens on the bustling streets of New York City.

  • 1857

    People flocked to the shop learning of the Witch Hazel’s astringent and revitalising properties. As a result, Pond’s range expands to include: toilet creams, dentifrice, lip salve, plasters, soaps, veterinary remedies, and talcum powders!

  • 1886

    Pond’s advertising highlights its medicinal uses- from remedies for bruises and burns, to caring for painful chilblain and cuts, to soothing pesky headaches, stings and sunburn.

  • 1907

    Pond’s launches two face creams, in the wake of the cult success of Pond’s Extract. 'Pond’s Cold Cream' and 'Pond’s Vanishing Cream'.

  • 1915

    Pond’s products are now sold all over Europe. Their inexpensive, yet quality creams meant women from all walks of life could indulge in skincare, not just the wealthy minority.

  • 1920

    The popularity of Pond’s cream is boosted by a glamorous advertising campaign featuring testimonies from the gorgeous women of the 1920s. Nobility such as Lady Georgina Curzon, beautiful actresses like Fay Compton and Zena Dare, and even the dizzying heights of royalty Princess Elizabeth of Greece proclaimed their love for Pond’s beauty essentials.

  • 1940s

    Pond’s products adorn women’s dressing tables all over the world. They’re part of women’s daily beauty routines in over 119 countries.


  • 1955

    The Pond’s Extract Company Ltd and the Cheesbrough Manufacturing Company merge to form Cheesebrough-Pond’s.


  • 1960s

    The distinctive Pond’s Tulip logo is born, and has stayed with Pond’s ever since.


  • 1980

    The Pond’s cream range now caters for every woman’s skin type: 'Pond’s Cold Cream', 'Dry Skin Cream', 'Vanishing Cream Oil Free Moisturiser' and a new formula for 'Light Moisturiser'.

    1984

    Pond’s launches an innovative teenage skin range in the UK. 'Gentle Touch' is made with pure, basic ingredients suitable for changeable, young skin.

    1986

    Pond’s Night cream is invented with a luxurious blend of rich, moisturising oils providing a new overnight vitality to the skin.

    1987

    Pond’s is acquired by Unilever, and launches a range of new products supported by promotions.

    Pond’s packaging is modernised with a stylish new pack design.

    The range now includes:

    • Cold Cream Cleanser - A refreshing facial cleanser that removes dirt and make-up.
    • Hydro Nourishing Cream - A gentle cream with nourishing Evening Primrose Oil.
    • Nourishing Anti-Wrinkle - contains smoothing White Tea Extract, Vitamin B3, and UV Protection.
    • Triple Action Moisturiser - A multi-tasking cream for mature skin. Anti-Wrinkle, anti-sagging, and anti-age spots.

  • 2011

    Pond's Eye Contour Cream is launched in the UK.
    Eye Contour Cream is fragrance free and enriched with Vitamins and Elastin to achieve double action: Care for the delicate eye contour skin, helping reduce puffiness and smooth out wrinkles.


  • 2012

    Pond’s launches its partnership with presenter Laura Whitmore. As the presenter for ITV2’s I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
